Electrician
This is a pre-apprenticeship program and is run by a National contractor,
Home Builders Institute (HBI).
- Level A: Pre-Apprentice electrician
- Level B: Pre-Apprentice electrician - advanced
The
length of time for completion of this vocation is approximately
18-24 months. A successful completer can look forward to positions
primarily in residential and commercial wiring and on a more limited
basis in industrial wiring.

Maintenance
This vocation has two levels and is run by a National contractor,
Home Builders Institute (HBI)
- Maintenance Helper
- Maintenance Technician
When
complete with this vocation, the student would be an entry-level
maintenance helper. The second level gives the student more practice
and indepth experience. It takes approximately 12-18 months to complete
both levels.
Heavy Equipment
There are two levels with 7 sub-levels (pieces of equipment) to
this vocation. This vocation is operated by International Union
of Operating Engineers (IUOE), Local 302
- Heavy Equipment Operator, Pre-Apprenticeship I
- Heavy Equipment Operator, Pre-Apprenticeship II
It
takes the average student one year to complete both levels of this
vocation. The seven sub-levels are: Bulldozer, scraper, loader,
grader, backhoe, road roller, and forklift. Graduates can look forward
to jobs in the heavy equipment apprenticeship program and with companies
throughout the state.
Carpentry
There are two levels to this vocation. This program is a center operated program.
- Carpentry Helper I, Level 1
- Carpentry Helper II, Level 2
Graduates can look forward to jobs with: commercial builders, general contractors, homebuilders, re-modelers, or subcontractors.
The
Carpentry program is customized for each student, typically requiring
about one year or 1000 hours to complete. |
